Process: Typically I will meet with the owner and their pet(s) for a photo session. Of course if the animal has passed away or if the commission is from another city or country I will work from photos provided. From these photos I will narrow down 4-5 choices that I feel would be good studies and the owner will then pick which photo best represents the animal they know. We will then discuss the colour scheme to be used, and compositional elements. If there is no waiting list I like to take three to four weeks for a painting. There is usually a waiting list.
